Holiday hobby time and melted cheese
Ho, ho, hobby time at last. So the first of the Metalica Reavers is now assembled and looking great already. I have all the armour panels on and am just tinkering with the final pose. The head needs some detailing work, but other than that it's really at the finishing detailing stage and weathering. If there are no major distractions this weekend, I hope to get the trim refined, scratches and oil/pigment weathering done.
Plan to add a couple of banners to this one. No carapace flags this time as the original source doesn't have one. Instead a suitably retro groin banner and maybe a couple of simple kill banners for the weapons. Definitely the former though.
Stalkers
Cracked open one of the Dark Mechanicum constructs boxes today, just to have a break from the brushwork. Really impressed how easily the constructs go together. Require a delicate touch as the models are quite spindly, but they really look great on the bases. The words 'skittering' and 'menacing' come to mind.
Just the eight bases of Harpax left to do, which I 'may' get done this evening. Also, may not given we have fam over so I'll be cooking. My other hobby. Not as cool as Heresy but to be fair much more practical.
Left them with a baked in a boule Camembert to keep them occupied whilst I rustle up chicken stuffed with spinach, mozzarella, pesto and sun-dried tomato. In retrospect, I'm probably not going to get those Harpax built tonight, but that Reaver is for sure getting it's finishing touches tomorrow.
For anyone interested in the baked party loaf. Just get a decent sized Boule or Sourdough. Cut the top off to match the size of the Camembert and pull out enough of the loaf for the cheese to fit snuggly inside. Mix up a couple cloves pressed garlic with olive oil and chopped rosemary. Make cuts in the sides of the bread for people to pull sections out and drizzle most of the rosemary infused garlic and oil onto the insides. Pop the Camembert inside, score through the rind and drizzle the remaining garlic and oil around the sides of the cheese. Bake for around 15 mins in a moderate oven. Scatter pomegranate seeds over the molten cheese and drizzle with honey. Enjoy.
Did I mention how much I love this time of the year?
Happy holidays.
